Violations of the Code of Conduct on the golf course

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct, including abusive language, club throwing, disrespect to volunteers, officials, club professionals or fellow competitors
  • Abuse of golf course property
  • Use of drugs or alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco products
  • Not adhering to the dress code during practice round or tournament play


Violations of the Code of Conduct off the golf course

  • Any use or association with drugs or alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco products
  • Vandalism at a host site
  • Any other conduct not becoming of a Challenge Cup member

Dress Code
Required Dress:

  • Hats/visors must be worn with brim forward
  • Collared shirts must be worn and tucked in at all times

Prohibited Dress:

  • Tank tops, T-shirts
  • Denim shorts, short-shorts, cut-off shorts, gym shorts, jeans

Code of Conduct Violation Penalties

The Challenge Cup may assess any or all of the penalties based on severity and frequency of the violation(s):

  • One-stroke penalty for each act of unsportsmanlike behavior on the golf course
  • Immediate disqualification from the tournament at which the violation occurs
  • Depending on the severity of the violation, a tournament disqualification may also result in disqualification from the next tournament(s) for which a player been accepted
  • The Challenge Cup reserves the right to suspend or revoke a player's membership for a major breach of the Challenge Cup Code of Conduct.


Any Code of Conduct violation will result in a written letter to the player and his or her parent/guardian.

Challenge Cup Spectators

Code of Conduct
  • Caddies are not permitted, unless otherwise notified
  • Keep your distance from players while following him or her throughout his or her tournament rounds. The Challenge Cup suggests 25 yards.
  • No advice is to be given to players during his or her tournament rounds
  • Do not walk in the fairways during the tournament rounds
  • Help spot balls
  • Encourage child to write thank-you notes to those persons who contributed to the success of the respective tournament
  • Allow Challenge Cup Rules Officials to administer rulings. You will be brought into a situation ONLY if the Rules Official asks you.
  • Parents are allowed to give a player a drink or snack, and offer encouragement
  • When on the course, turn off cell phones or turn ringers to the silent or the vibrate mode. Respect host facility's policy if cell phones are not allowed. 
  • Adhere to host facility's dress code. Some facility's may not allow blue jeans, T-shirts, etc.
